EDITORIAL The BFCA is on a good start. Fishermen excitement about the way forward can be measured from the great turn out and enthusiasm expressed at recent meetings. On January 25, 2010 the BFCA hosted its 33rd Annual General Meeting where Northern Fishermen Cooperative formally re-entered the BFCA. Consequently, several planning meetings were convened leading up to the FIRST BFCA ADVOSRY COUNCIL MEETING on May 31, 2010. At a Belize City meeting held at the BFCA office on May 26, 2010, ninety eight fishermen from Northern, National and independent fishermen gathered and listed some of their major concerns affecting the fishing industry. Some of these included a request for the Ministry of Fisheries to be separated from Agriculture, the need for the cooperatives to diversify into aquaculture, duty free gas for fishermen and creating a disaster fund. These and the other important concerns listed will set the program of the revised BFCA.
